The Field Of Communications Is Growing As Fast As Technology

It doesn't matter if business has a product to sell, a disaster to mitigate or anything else involving mass media; they call in a communications expert. These are people specially trained to deliver a message from a source to an audience. Whether that audience is one person or the general public at large, the message needs to be shaped and delivered. It's also one of the most creative, dynamic, and challenging of many of the current occupations.

At its core, all communications is about the delivery of a message from one point to another. It can be anything from a song to a political screed. A communications expert concentrates on targeting the most responsive market for that message, how to create, edit and deliver that message, and then ensures it "spins" the way it is supposed to.

A person can easily see how dynamic the field is just seeing the evolution of mass media. In the 20th Century alone, communications must stay abreast of the likes of radio, then television and now onto the web and what is now called social media. Anyone in advertising and public relations is now constantly shifting their methods to keep up with the latest form of mass media.

It doesn't take much for a high school student to realize those who want to enter this field need strong written and oral skills. A basic comprehension of statistics, information technology and some flair in the creative arts are a serious bonus. Communications specializes in crossing disciplines, so the initial goal is to get a fairly rounded education in the humanities and related business courses.

From this point, there are a number of excellent community, state and online schools offering courses in a great deal of communications subjects. A good way to approach a Bachelors of Arts or Sciences in communications is to first see if the school is properly accredited and how successful they are in placing graduates into real jobs. From there, a good idea is to use the first two years of college for a solid and overall general education in business and humanities courses. By a student's junior year, it's time to specialize in anything from journalism through mass media. Searching for an internship or work-study program is also highly recommended.

Upon getting that bachelor's, the number of employment options for a communications grad is fairly endless. Just about every kind of business employs them, from major health institutions to media concerns onto political groups. It should also be noted that competition for these jobs is high. There are a lot of people out there looking to work in this arena.

Still, with enough creativity and perseverance, a graduate can rise up the media ladder. Entry level salaries tend to be in the low-to-mid 20s, depending on who hired you. At the same time, prove you're good at the game and salaries can go into the millions.

If you have that right mix of savvy, creativity and toughness, a career in the world of communications is a perfect fit. Add these classes to a business program online and you're combining two powerful mediums. Those new to online learning will enjoy the free courses offered by several organizations. Get familiar, then get learning, and soon - a degree!

The Chariot Card - Colours and Symbols in The Rider Waite Smith Deck of Tarot Cards

The Chariot Card in the Rider Waite Smith deck of Tarot Cards is rich in colour and symbolism. These are important because they can add extra depth and meaning to your readings.

Colours

Yellow is a prominent colour in this card, with the background being Yellow and also the wheels of the Chariot.

This the colour of the 3rd Chakra, which is the Solar Plexus, and which is our personal power source. It is colour that is about the self and how we relate to ourselves and to the world around us.

Symbols

The Sphynxs are contrasting and complementing black and white. They represent duality, positive and negative, male and female, extrovert and introvert, night and day. Both need to be present for the whole to function properly.

The sphynxs have no reins to control or direct them which means that the driver has to lead and control them with the power and force of his or her mind.

That means that he or she needs to be absolutely clear on the direction that he or she wishes to go in and to be totally in control because otherwise the sphynxs, or the opposing forces will go off in their own directions and the chariot will either not move at all or go round in circles.

There is the same theme that was seen in the Lovers and the Hierophant of one large figure presiding over two smaller ones. The driver of the Chariot is holding together the tow opposing forces represented by the sphynxs, in order to create and third and stronger power.

The symbol we see on front of the chariot that looks like a nut and bolt, is called a lingam and yoni, representing the Hindu figures of Shiva (masculine principle) and Parvati (feminine principle) united together into a single figure.

Many of the symbols we find in the Chariot card can also be seen in previous cards, and it could be said the driver of the Chariot has mastered all the elements indicate by those cards.

The wand is similar to the one we found in Magician for creating and manifesting. The driver is well aware of the power of that he or she can direct through the Wand, as it is needed, and so seems to be holding it quite lightly.

The stars of the crown remind us of the stars in the Empress card.

There is a veil behind him which reminds us of the veil between the conscious and the unconscious that we find in the High Priestess card. The veil is firmly fixed into the back of the Chariot, which would suggest that the driver is well aware of both the conscious and unconscious and the respective power of each. He or she has them in their right place, with neither having greater power than the other.

The faces on the shoulders of the figure are called "Urin and Thummim" and were the supposed shoulder plates of the High Priest in Jerusalem.

The Chariot card has many small details and each of them has an important purpose. Nothing is there by accident.

This is especially important if your eye suddenly falls on a detail in the card that you maybe have not noticed before or jumps out at you. That detail may have an important message for you.

Three Unique Ideas To Make Your Bulletin Board More Useful

A bulletin board is a plank of wide wood whose surface is covered in cork. These boards have been in existence in schools for as far back as I can recall. In fact, they have been constant occupants of class rooms, lecture halls, art rooms, hallways, and even gymnasiums. These boards have the propensity to attract attention from people, even from mere passers-by. Thus, when used creatively and purposefully, they can be such powerful tools that can be utilized by teachers and students alike. Herein are just some of the ways in which bulletin boards can be utilized on campus:

A bulletin board can be used to showcase students' works. Teachers can make use of these boards to encourage students to pursue their inclinations, be it drawing, painting, or writing. Since the board's surface is made up of cork, it is simple to attach almost any kind of paper onto ti with the help of tacks and holders. Students can post their drawings, paintings, poems, and short stories onto the surfaces. Teachers can use this ploy to encourage students to further develop and explore their talents and skills. Moreover, this would be an excellent venue for students to be trained in properly handling various reactions, admiration, and criticism from different kinds of people.

A bulletin board can be used to efficiently broadcast relevant information throughout the school. With the help of tacks and holders, various sorts of pamphlets and flyers can be attached to the board's surface. Also, teachers and students can affix schedules, announcements, reminders, and other pertinent information onto bulletin boards. Due to aforementioned predilection of these boards to draw attention, they can be effective tools for information dissemination purposes. As well, such a method will provide the school standardized locations for posting and obtaining information. This allows for fewer risks that the information will not get to the relevant people efficiently.

A bulletin board can be used as a means to commend outstanding students in school. Such an open and public method of doing so will allow students to feel much-deserved pride in their endeavors, achievements, and efforts. It will, furthermore, encourage them to do even better and to try even harder. As well, other students will be pushed to aim for improvement and excellence in school, the reward of which would be the privilege of seeing their names being commended in these boards. Teachers will find that this is a brilliant way to instill the importance of education and of always aiming high for their students.

Bulletin boards can certainly be utilized on various means to help make campus life more fun, interactive, appealing, and interesting. A bulletin board can be used by teachers to nurture the seeds of talent, skill, and learning in their students. Students, as well, can make use of these words to feed their thirst for knowledge, development, and perfection. These boards are indeed such versatile tools that make learning and teaching more worthwhile.

Marl has helped a lot of people over the years with everything from bulletin board, to bulletin boards, so stop by and let us know if you ever need anything.

Ground Schools Benefit From Offering Online Courses

Higher education institutions have faced state funding cuts due to today's poor economy. In response, colleges across the country are looking for financially conscious "ways to operate more efficiently." But the point is that colleges need more money. One possible solution to funding issues would be to recruit more out-of-state students, who pay higher tuition rates to attend a school than in-state students do. Traditional ground schools are beginning to offer online course options for students interested in distance learning.

The University of California Commission on the Future recently discussed these issues and released a report detailing solutions to decreased state funding. The panel is made up of professors, students, alumni and school officials. Two key points addressed in the report were that UC "must enroll more out-of-state students and increase its number of online courses."

The UC network includes ten different campus locations across the state of California. Overall, the school's out-of-state enrollment rate is only at 6 percent. Two of UC's campuses, UC Berkeley and UCLA have out-of-state enrollment rates over 10 percent. But the remaining eight campuses have far less numbers of out-of-state students enrolled.

Some fear that an increase in out-of-state students might displace California state residents, which could potentially have a negative effect on the California public school system. George Blumenthal, UC Santa Cruz Chancellor said that the school has, at first, an obligation to in-state students. But others agree that the future of higher education lies in nontraditional education methods such as online learning. To stay competitive with other schools across the country and even around the world, UC must adapt.

Lawrence Piotts, UC Provost said that "well into the future, there may be the possibility of an entirely online UC degree." This option would allow out-of-states students to earn their degree from UC without relocating to one of its campuses. But for now, smaller steps will be taken toward increasing the amount of online courses offered to students by the school.

University Bound is THE authority in online education and the ultimate resource for prospective online students.

Employment Opportunities Rise For Those With Bachelor Degrees

A bachelors degree usually takes four years of full-time study at a post-secondary institution in order to be achieved and is by far the most popular degree level sought after by college students. For the 2008-2009 school year, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) reported that 60 percent of the degrees awarded were at the bachelor's level. Students are aptly prepared to enter the workforce with a four-year degree to their credit.

Going to school for this degree means that students are studying to receive an undergraduate degree while master's degrees are considered graduate programs. Bachelor degrees fall between associate degrees, which take two years to complete, and masters degrees, which generally take another two years on top of a bachelors degree. Of course, pay is commensurate with degree level; the higher the degree, the more you can expect to be paid in the workforce.

The most commonly titled degrees are referred to as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) followed by that student's major program; for example, Engineering or Communications. Of course, these aren't the only bachelors degrees awarded, they are just the most general forms. Much of how a degree is categorized is dependent upon the university and their standards.

A bachelors maintains that students will receive two years of general education in order to provide them with a foundation to base their majors on. General courses will include subjects in the sciences, humanities, math and literature or composition. This period is formally termed as the associates degree, if you so wish to apply for it after completing your general coursework.

Following the first two years, students will be able to pursue their degree major coursework. During this time students will also be able to take electives that will compliment their major or simply because they are interested in the subject matter. This will take 60 credit hours of study or another two years approximately.

Some students can complete a BA or BS in less time by taking courses during the summer or if they managed to test out of the course through AP (Advanced Placement) classes in high school or CLEP (College Level Examination Program) tests prior to taking the course. These tests will measure how much a student knows about a given topic. This gives them the opportunity to receive college credit if they know a sufficient amount of information.

Four year degrees are important in the workforce. It is stated that approximately 33% of all Americans who are currently working attained a bachelors or higher, and this number has been on the rise from previous years. More and more individuals are seeing the value in a college education, especially when you go for that four year BA or BS degree.

If you want to establish a productive career, a college education is usually the way to begin; obtaining a degree will further your career options even more. Those who are already working will find that getting their bachelor's degree online will enable them to continue their employment while studying. More and more individuals are realizing that online degrees are the way to go.

Never Answer the ONE Question Colleges Will Always Ask You (If You Want to Get In)

Throughout the entire college process, colleges are trying to figure out whether or not a prospective student is a good fit for their campus. They are constantly asking interested students - at college fairs, informational sessions, on their websites, in the applications themselves, interviews, etc. The types of questions they ask sound like they're about them, but what they're really asking for information about you. (For example, when asked the perennial favorite "Why do you want to attend our college?" The last thing you want to do is go on and on about how wonderful you think their college is - that's not the answer they're looking for!)

They will ask you questions about your activities, your academics, your thoughts on the world around you, etc. But there is one question you almost always get - likely directly in a conversation - "What other colleges are you considering (or applying to)?"

There is ONE fundamental problem with answering that question. If you answer it with a laundry list of other colleges you're considering applying to, you could damage your opportunities at that college on the spot. Here is why.

When colleges make an admissions decision, if they were focused only on the amount of money they could get in tuition, then anyone who could pay the bill would get in -- and we know that isn't the case. But getting a tuition check is only part of their concern. They are also looking at students for the value they bring to campus or results they are going to achieve while on our campus (and serve as marketing tools for us in the future).

When the colleges are asking that question, they are looking to see who their competition will be when it comes decision time. College Admissions Officers are constantly thinking to themselves, "If we say yes to this student, how likely is this student actually going to attend our college (i.e. pay us money, offer us value or get great results)?"

Answering the "What other colleges are you considering?" question doesn't help them see your value one whit - but it does help them get a sense of who their competition is and they could decide that rather than compete, they'll simply "bow out" - by saying "no thanks" to you in favor of a student they think is more interested in attending their college.

The solution? Do not give them an answer to that question. Instead, provide an "obvious answer" and then "redirect" the conversation with a question of your own. One where you can give them a glimpse of your interest in them. That is how you can find out more about them, describe yourself and they sell themselves on you based on the "value" you would bring to campus.

Now, by the way, this situation does not just happen during interactions and conversations with college admissions' officers and other admissions representatives (like current students of the college at informational sessions). This question also comes up frequently on applications. The answer is always the same, though. Provide an obvious answer and then re-direct the narrative.

Your assignment:

Never discuss the colleges you're applying to during your interactions with college representatives. You will almost always hurt your chances. Here is what I recommend my clients say to the representative of XYZ College when they are asked:

"I'm considering a few additional colleges right now, but, haven't really made an decisions yet (except for XYZ - only add this part if it's 100% true). But, while I have you here, I would really like to ask you about....." and fill in with a question you have created as part of your criteria you're using to investigate the colleges to see if they're a good fit for you.

Done. You're able to reaffirm your HIGH level of interest in the college and demonstrate some thoughtfulness and value (inquisitive, deliberate, smart) and then you're all set to move on and "close the deal" later in your carefully prepared application with dynamite essay, if and when you decide to apply to that college.

3 Tips to Learn to Speak in Another Language

Do you want to learn a foreign language? Are you looking for some tips to learn to speak in another language? If so, keep reading, because you are in the right place. In this article I'm going to help you improve your speaking skills! Here are three tips to learn to speak in another language.

1. Practice on message boards

There are two ways to learn a language on a message board: look for a message board in your target language (and practice with native speakers) or look for an English message board and practice with other learners (sometimes there are also native speakers). The first way is more effective (it's total immersion), but it's also more difficult.

2. Listen to music

Find some good artists who sing or rap in your target language and listen to them on a daily basis! However, don't listen passively: try to pay close attention to the lyrics and try to understand them. Often, these expeditions have transportation, tour guides and hotel accommodations that are built into the cost of the study program. However, even if a student enrolls in a program that doesn't include sightseeing and exploration, they will have the chance to explore on their own or with friends.

While a student is in Italy, they may also have a chance to explore other areas of Europe if they are there long enough. Learning From Productive Faculty Members Who Manage Their Space, Time, and/or Life

Regardless of who we are, we can learn from other people. Sometimes those others are within close proximity (like when we learn from our own children or from our students) and other times, we can learn from people who are colleagues across campus or across the globe.

In this article, we will consider categories of productivity related to managing space, managing time, and managing life. Let me prompt you a bit to consider people you have observed who (at least seem to) know how to manage better than you do in these areas.

  1. Workspace - Whether it is someone's office, lab, or other workspace, there are those who seem to be organized and productive in that space. Make note of a name or two here.
  2. Family - Although it sometimes does not feel like it, an academic's life really does have parts in it other than work. Who do you know who at least appears to have their family life run in a productive manner? There may be kids involved or there may not be. You are trying to generate the names of professors (or others) who seem to have their work life in order AND they have their home life in productive order, too. Or, maybe it is someone whose worklife is in disarray but their home life has some parts that are quite productive...you can still learn from them, too.
  3. Time - Is there a faculty colleague (in your department, college, or across the country) who never seems harried due to time? This person meets deadlines, doesn't seem ruffled by an overwhelming amount of work, and is seen calmly talking to students or other colleagues on occasion - without looking at his/her watch every two seconds. Write down the name of that person because there is something to learn there!
  4. Health - We all know that if we let our health go, then our teaching, research, service, relationships, and everything else can go out the window pretty quickly. Yet....we often ignore our health and wellness. Who are some fellow faculty who seem to productively tend to their health without it becoming the primary focus of their lives?
  5. Other - You can also choose one or more additional areas where you would like to learn ways to be more productive in your career as a professor. Figure out the category and then think of the people's names who represent productivity in those categories.

Once you have this list of 5 or 10 names, now what? Well, you could follow them around day in and day out, but that would get a little creepy. Instead, contact at least one of these people each month and ask for a face to face, email, or phone interview where you could learn some of their secrets for productivity in whatever area you have categorized them. I know from experience that they will gladly share their wisdom and will be honored and maybe humbled that you have asked.

And for scores of sets of Productivity Tips for Professors like these, you're invited to join others around the globe who subscribe (free) to one of the Top Ten Productivity Tips series (info to be found at):

How To Learn Spanish Prepositional Pronouns and Avoid An Embarrassing Mistake

If you want to know how to learn Spanish prepositional pronouns, I have a story to tell you that will not only help you learn this topic of Spanish grammar but will also show you the importance of knowing this topic. I can remember one of my most embarrassing moments in learning Spanish as if it had happened yesterday even though it happened more than 10 years ago. Actually, now that I look back it was rather humorous.

There was a young woman that worked as a waitress in a Colombian restaurant in a section of Queens, New York called Jackson Heights. I would have lunch there about once a week. The woman spoke very little English.

I always ordered the same thing: Pollo, arroz, frijoles, ensalada de aguacate, y jugo natural. That's chicken, rice, beans, avocado salad and natural fruit juice.

Since I found her attractive, I finally decided that I was going to ask her in Spanish if she'd like go out on a date with me.

So I asked her "¿Quieres salir con yo?" That's when she looked at me as if I was a 3-headed monster. So I tried asking her another way. "¿Quieres comer con yo?" Now she was looking at me as if I had just grown a fourth head.

So I tried asking another way "¿Quieres tomar con yo?"

At that point she abruptly walked away and rushed over to the "gerente" or manager of the restaurant. I couldn't hear everything that she was saying but it sounded like she was saying "ese hombre está loco" which means "that man is crazy."

Next, I saw the manager walking towards me with a very angry face. That's when I thought to myself "Oh no, what I did I say wrong now." The manager who apparently spoke English fluently then asked me "what seems to be your problem?"

I didn't know if I had said something offensive in Spanish or if the waitress was his wife. So I said to him "I am sorry if she's your wife. If I had known I would not have asked her to go out with me, and I would not have asked her if she wants to eat with me and drink with me."

Practically yelling, he said to me "the problem isn't that you asked her to go out with you. The problem is your vulgar mouth."

I replied "all I said to her is ¿Quieres salir con yo? ¿Quieres comer con yo?" and "¿Quieres beber con yo?"

Fortunately, he knew what I was trying to ask and he corrected my Spanish and told me that I should have asked "¿Quieres salir conmigo?" (do you want to go out with me?)"¿Quieres comer conmigo?" (do you want to eat with me?) and "¿Quieres beber conmigo?" (do you want to drink with me?)

That's when I suddenly realized that instead of asking "Do you want to go out with me" I had asked "do you want to go out with I." And instead of asking "do you want to eat with me or do you want to drink with me" I had asked do you want to eat with I or do you want to drink with I?"

That's when I began to think. At best, I sounded a little like Shakespeare trying to speak Spanish. At worst, I used bad Spanish grammar.

"But wait a minute" I told the manager. At this point I was the one getting an angry face. "I may be a Gringo but I'm not stupid enough to think that I said anything vulgar to that woman. I just used bad Spanish grammar!"

He then said "the phrase 'con yo' doesn't exist in Spanish anymore than the phrase 'with I' exists in English."

He then added "but there is a word in Spanish that sounds just like the phrase 'con yo' and that word is 'coño' and it means 'DAMN!"

So from today's lesson, I hope that you learned the importance of knowing the prepositional pronouns in Spanish.

The College Years: Preparing Your Teen Age Children For Success

If you have teen-age children, then getting them ready for their college years should be one of your priorities. Making sure that your kids are mature enough to handle the college environment means covering several different bases: financial, mental and emotional maturity are all part of what makes a successful adult, and your children will be learning about all of these in college.

Part of what makes an effective parent is your ability to put your children in situations that teach them how to live successful independent lives, while still keeping them safe from harm and supervised properly. In preparing your children for college, you need to think creatively. Come up with fun exercises that don't feel like lessons, things that they enjoy doing, while still giving you the ability to monitor them so that they don't make any mistakes.

For instance, learning to manage money properly is one of the best lessons that you can teach a soon-to-be college student. One effective way to do this would be to open a checking account for your teenager and let them learn to balance a checkbook, set a budget and make money plans. Although no teenager will manage their checking account perfectly, this will go a long way in getting them ready for college.

Don't make the mistake of getting a credit card for your teenage child, though, unless it's absolutely unavoidable, and always try to impress upon them how dangerous credit can be for young people. one of the biggest mistakes that many college students make is getting their first credit card, running up high charges, and then not having the financial resources to pay it back.

In the end, you will eventually have to trust your child to do their best as you prepare for them to go off to college. If you've done a good job of preparing for them to be independent, then you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Tips For Learning How To Talk Spanish Fast and Quickly

It's about 3:15 AM. I am writing this article because I cannot sleep. That's because I am so excited because I think that I have finally "cracked the code," and have some tips for learning how to talk Spanish fast and quickly. I am so excited about it that I want to share the formula with you right now.

I don't know about you, but I have had many Spanish instructors tell me to "just take your time and go at your own pace." As much as I hate to admit it, I have also been guilty of giving people the same advice. That kind of advice may be great advice for the person who just enjoys learning Spanish as a hobby with no particular goal in mind. But this isn't sound advice for the person that really wants to speak conversational Spanish or the person that wants to speak Spanish fluently.

When I look back I realize that my greatest breakthrough in learning how to talk Spanish fast and quickly came when I created a "sense of urgency." NOT when I took my time.

When I "created a sense of urgency" and set clear written goals with concrete deadlines
about the learning-Spanish materials that I wanted to cover I began to make the most progress. For example, if I wrote down a goal of completing a certain home study course in 30 or 60 days as opposed to completing it "whenever" I found that I learned Spanish a lot faster.

When I wrote down a goal of meeting with a private instructor twice a week as opposed
to "whenever I can make it," I learned Spanish quicker.

Here's another tip...

I also found that it was important that the goals were challenging. Its doesn't help much to say that I am going to finish a home study course in a year when the course should be completed in 90 days. But by "creating a sense of urgency" and having a written goal of completing the same course in 8 weeks
or 10 weeks, I made progress quicker - a lot quicker.

My experience has also been that if I don't set a deadline, completing a Spanish course or
Spanish book never gets done. And this is probably the biggest tip about setting your learning-Spanish
goals...

Your goals must be "action" related as opposed to "results" related.

Here's an example of an "action" related goal. "I am going to finish the XYZ Spanish course in 90 days."

Here's an example of a "results" related goal: "I am going to be able to speak Spanish fluently one year from today."

When I used to set results-related goals of learning how to speak Spanish if I didn't accomplish the goal, I would feel as if it had adversely affected my confidence to speak Spanish and my motivation to learn it.

I guess that's because we have a lot more control over the outcomes of the action-related goals that we set than the results-related goals that we set.

So to sum it all up, here are the tips for learning how to talk Spanish fast and quickly. You need to:

1. Create a Sense of Urgency
2. Set clear written goals with deadlines
3. Make sure the goals are challenging

Stained Glass: Styles Commonly Used by Stained Glass Artists

When they are crafting one-of-a-kind stained glass windows for homes, government buildings, hotels, or churches, stained glass artists must not only create a memorable pattern, but also select the right types of glass to bring that pattern to life. Creating custom stained glass works may involve using one or more of the types of glass described below:

Cathedral glass: Cathedral glass is readily identified by its transparency. It is usually tinted a single, uniform color, and is available in a number of textures. Cathedral glass can be layered to achieve more complex looks and colors.

Opalescent glass: This is the type most people picture when they think of stained glass. It is generally translucent, meaning that although some amount of light is allowed to pass through, objects that are on the other side of the glass are not visible. This type of glass can be a single color, but often incorporates different hues or shades.

Wispy glass: Wispy glass consists of two different colors of glass that are mixed together. The characteristic that makes wispy glass special is that one color is usually opalescent while the other is cathedral. This results in varying amounts of light being permitted to pass through the glass, which creates good color depth and interesting visual effects.

Streaky glass: Streaky glass is similar to wispy in that two different colors are combined together. The difference is that both colors are typically opalescent. Rich, complex shades are created.

Bevels: Bevels are often included as accent pieces within a larger work of stained glass or used to create a border, although there are some works composed entirely of bevels. Bevels are made of thick pieces of glass, and their edges are ground and polished in such a way that they refract light. Bevels scatter light in much the same way as prisms.

Textured glass: Most people think of glass as having a smooth surface, but the truth is that an almost endless number of textures can be produced when glass is in its molten state. Just a few types of textured glass that can be used to craft panels, windows, and other decorative elements are antique (this type has fine lines and is often used to create backgrounds), seedy (contains small trapped air bubbles), and catspaw (a unique surface texture created when hot glass is placed on a cooler table).

The types of glass described above can be combined by talented stained glass artists in countless ways. Even works created from the same pattern can be entirely different once completed because of the colors, textures, and properties of the glass used to create them.

Child Psychology Degree Online - A Great Start - But Is It Enough?

Diverse career options are available for students who have completed a child psychology degree online.

Psychology itself is a very interesting subject. It is concerned with explaining human behavior, especially behavior that adversely affects society and/or a particular individual.

This field looks at people's background, beliefs, upbringing, health and social environment etc. in order to explain their behavioral patterns.

Psychology is a broad term but it can be classified into more specific areas such as behavioral, cognitive, forensic and developmental psychology.

Child psychology is one very popular specialty. It is concerned with the behavior of children from infants to adolescence. It examines their psycho-physiological processes, development and identity formations.

Child psychologists also study social parameters such as the environment where children grew up, the role of the parents and other factors that make children behave the way they do.

Pursuing a child psychology degree online program is a popular choice for working professionals who have an interest in working with children. By doing such a program, you can earn an accredited baccalaureate or master's degree in this field over the internet.

Many people who enroll in online schools are working professionals who want to pursue a higher education but have critical financial and time constraints. Pursuing a degree online is potentially less expensive than traditional schools. Plus an online degree program can be completed at one's own pace.

After earning a child psychology degree online at the postgraduate level, you can work as a licensed psychologist in primary or secondary schools or with social services. When working with children, you'll need to demonstrate compassion, patience and sensitivity in addition to the skills you learned in college.

With a doctoral degree in this area, you can also undertake research into the behavior of today's youth. By publishing your findings in journals, you can pass on valuable insight to aspiring psychologists and social welfare workers.

However, bear in mind that having a postgraduate degree in child psychology is a necessary but not sufficient condition to become a practicing professional. Plus, it is important that your school is appropriate accredited.

Next, find out what career moves you must make in order to get the best out of your child psychology degree. Visit: http://www.DistanceLearningDegrees.org

What Do You Need to Know About Online Medical Transcription Schools?

When you want to work as a medical transcriptionist, training through an online medical transcription school makes a lot of sense. They're flexible and most resemble the experience of working at home.

You do not, however, want to sign up with just any online medical transcription school. You want to be picky. You want to register with a program that will give you the skills to appeal to potential employers. Without that, you're just wasting money and time. You probably can't afford either of those.

1. How long does the program estimate it will take you to complete training?

Different programs will have different expectations for how quickly you should be able to complete the coursework. Anything stating that less than four months of training is a normal thing is probably not a solid course. Some can finish a good course quickly, but 6-9 months or more is very common.

2. Is the program AHDI Approved?

There are other credentials you can consider, but this is the one I most recommend. AHDI reviews the medical transcription course specifically, and has strict quality requirements.

AHDI Approval means the coursework covers all the areas AHDI believes a student will need to learn to qualify as a medical transcriptionist. It means the course has good support for students. It means the student will be doing a significant amount of real doctor dictation.

3. How flexible is your schedule?

Many online programs are primarily self paced, although there is often an overall deadline for completing the course. This deadline should be easily possible for dedicated students, even if you work another job and can only study part time.

4. What does the program cost?

The cost of medical transcription training online varies significantly. You don't necessarily need to choose the most expensive program but don't go entirely cheap either. Remember that AHDI Approval. You do not want to waste time and money on a program that fails to give you the skills you need.

5. Are any employers partnered with the program?

Some medical transcription programs online are partnered with certain employers. This is to your advantage, as it means that the employers will consider graduates of that program despite their lack of experience. It doesn't guarantee you a job, as they may not always be hiring, but it improves your chances.

6. How dedicated are you to being a medical transcriptionist?

It's not all about the school. You play the major role in your own success. If you aren't dedicated to your studies and your future as a transcriptionist, this may not be the right choice for you.
