Parallel Perceptions and Asymmetric Senses of Reality

For understanding parallel perceptions and asymmetric senses of reality, we can explore this matter in the contrast of the independent objects. The entities in the realm of independent objects exist as they are. The independent objects are atoms, quarks, photons, molecules and so on, that vary in complexity and combination of its individual parts. These entities do not contain any form of knowledge in themselves. How could they? After all, a glass jar is not known of being a thinker or a philosopher. Nor is the moon circling the Earth because it is fond of the animal kingdom on Earth.

Knowledge we have of the physical reality is not the essence of what the physical reality is. A stone is a complex molecular structure. It functions according to its nature as it is, independently on how it is thought or what it is experienced as being. Thus, the knowledge and qualities we are aware in our experience of the stone cannot be the essence of its being. And so, the representational reality is the individual's own portrait of the universe.

Your brains give all the contents you are aware of to it. Your subconscious reflects all the qualities to it. The contents and qualities that are a part of the reality as it is experienced are dependent on the neurological structure of the brains. The innate nature in itself is asymmetric between the people who are born. This innate neurological design of the brains begins to fashion to the exceeding forms of the post-innate structure. Every experience after the birth fashions the existing parts. Memories begin to form in increasing amounts. Different individuals will meet different circumstances, even if we were talking about twins that live in the same house. Even more different circumstances are met by individuals who are born in the other side of the world. The children learn different languages, depending on the native language. Finland is a different central point for neighboring countries than France is for the individual. The cultural continuum has as if tuned the habits and responses of the native culture the individual is born into.

Now, even though we were in the same room, the way our brains interpret the contents of it is asymmetric, thus producing the emergence of asymmetric content and qualities to it. Yet, the origins for the interpretations are the same. Independent on how we think about them. Independent on how our brains interpret them as being. The same event can be interpreted by the brain to be different between different people. A dog's brain cannot interpret the romantic gesture of giving a red rose to a woman. An atheist who believes in causal determinism does not live in a reality where karmic laws apply in nature. These are all due to parallel perceptions and asymmetric senses of reality.

Why Is English Such an Important International Language? Understanding the Power of English

Some people wonder why English is such an important international language. The answer is essentially two-fold. English is the main language used in commerce and is spoken across the world by millions of people. Certainly Europe is an example of an area where several languages are spoken but even there, English is prominent and often the language of choice. Because English is so widely spoken and is a main language of business, it's important for people to learn it so they can function within business and social situations accordingly. When you can perform in business to your highest potential, you can often profit accordingly. Good English skills can help you perform your work.

Knowing English and being able to speak, write and read it well can help you succeed in business and make a wider base of experiences available to you. English is spoken by the majority of recognized democracies in the world, so knowing English can play into the role of political freedom in some countries. When people can learn and get information in English and from English-speaking countries, they see how people live and function in other parts of the world than is sometimes conveyed in a native language or culture other than ones based in English.

When you can demonstrate that you can speak, write and read English well, you may be more easily recognized for promotions or be asked to represent your company to new and returning clients. Your employers like to know that you can properly inform a client of services and products with confidence in English. If you work in the field of education, you may want to pay particular attention to your English skills. You may be a brilliant chemist, but if you can't teach chemistry in English to the University class you've been assigned to that expects instruction in English, your students will have difficulty learning and you can become frustrated as instructor.

With the knowledge and skills that English offers, you will be able to understand more about the world around you as events occur. You will be able to see English television shows and hear radio shows with more insight to the stories and culture of those involved. Knowing English will also help you a great deal with basic living situations as you travel in English-speaking areas. You will be able to ask someone where the toilet is or get directions to where you can buy a sandwich for lunch.

Criminal Justice Degrees - What Career Options Are Available?

Edward Gibbon once said that "History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies and misfortunes of mankind." This could not be a truer statement and is the reason why criminal justice is a fast growing and much needed career field. If you are considering getting a criminal justice degree, you may want to know what career options are available to you after graduation.

TV shows, like CSI and NCIS, have made crime scene investigation one of the top jobs currently. Just as the name implies, CSIs go to crime scenes in search of clues as to what has happened. The crime could be anything from assaults, burglaries, and homicides, just to name a few. Some CSIs choose to specialize in one type of crime or field, such as ballistics, firearms, or fingerprints.

Many criminal justice majors also enter into the correctional system as a corrections officer. This position involves watching over criminals who are spending time in jails, reformatories, or penitentiaries. They prevent escapes and ensure the safety of inmates and other workers at the jail.

A very important criminal justice career is that of a probation or parole officer. They oversee those criminals granted release or parole from prison and those criminals that were sentenced to probation by the court system. This position requires an interesting mix of skills. Not only do probation officers ensure the security of the public, they also rehabilitate criminals that have been given a second chance.

It is important that you look into your career aspirations prior to enrolling in a criminal justice program. This will ensure that you pick the correct program for your desired career path.

Astrology and Numerology for the Lovers Card in the Rider Waite Smith Deck of Tarot Cards

The Rider Waite Smith deck of Tarot Cards are numbered from 0 (zero) to 22 (twenty two) in the Major Arcana. Tarot cards have a strong correlation with both Astrology and Numerology and knowledge of these subjects can add considerable depth to your Tarot Card Readings.

Astrology

In Astrology, the Lovers card is represented by the planet Venus, which governs the signs of Taurus and Libra.

Venus indicates love, beauty, harmony, relationships, partnerships, romance, relatedness and balance.

Venus governs the 2nd house of the astrological chart, which is ruled by Taurus and this is to do with possessions and strong emotional feelings. The second house also points to stability in life, particularly around the home and family. The 7th house, ruled by Libra, is about partnerships and relationships. These are generally long-term, stable relationships.

Taurus brings stability, a love of finer things in life, money, food, sex and emotional security. Taureans generally make sensual lovers, although they can be stubborn and possessive.

Librans have a great sense of fairness and justice. They are generally gentle, friendly, tactful and charming, although they can become indecisive and be trying so hard to please that they can find it hard to say No to others.

Numerology

The Lovers card is represented by the Number 6 and all the qualities we have already discussed in the astrology section are relevant to this number. People who are ruled by the number six express themselves through art, beauty, colour and harmony. They are warm and compassionate and have a desire to serve others in some way.

One of the symbols of the number 6 is the 6 pointed star, where there are two triangles. One triangle points towards heaven and the other toward earth, symbolising the unity of the highest and most fundamental ideals.

One triangle is the symbol of the masculine fire and the other is the symbol of the feminine water, which when combined form a unity of two principles. This unity then creates a third element, which is more powerful than each of the two elements separately.

The Lovers Card in the Rider Waite Smith deck of Tarot Cards is a card of the power that can be released when two forces, complementary and yet different, come together in harmony, co-operation and creation.

In its purest form, the power and the drive that comes from physical and sexual energy can be immense. When taken with the idea of harmony, co-operation and a desire to serve and help others, the combined power of Tarot, Astrology and Numerology makes this a very strong card to see in a reading.

It is not just about Sex and the physical aspects of a relationship. There is a lot more value that can come from a real understanding of the Lovers Card.

Things to Consider While Choosing a Driving School

There can be different reasons as to why one would need to go to a driving school. For one, it is because you have not been equipped with the knowledge needed to be on the road, so you want to gain that knowledge. Another reason could be because you require a different type of driving license of a different vehicle, or it could be because your license had been revoked or expired and you need to reapply. It could even be because you want to advance your driving skills, which also means that your insurance can get discounted. Whichever the reason, you would need to find yourself a driving school to help you get through the lessons with ease.

The most important thing to look for in a school is that it is accredited. An accreditation is proof that the school has been recognized to follow the standards and regulations by the state's road organizations. It is important to get an accredited education otherwise your license can be rejected. If you are attending school for reasons to reduce insurance rates, you should enquire what type of classes are needed, as well as a list of schools that are recommended.

You can try looking for schools through phone books, or even through the Internet. Looking at a school's Website can come in handy as it allows you to compare information between schools, as well as enables you to learn more about them, such as the timing, fee, types of classes offered, and length of time to complete. All these would typically affect your decision as you would want something that matches your conveniences. Do note that the cheapest courses do not make the most reliable one, as this could indicate the credibility of their instructors as well.

One way to determine which school is reliable is to look through testimonials from forums, or you could even ask your relatives or friends for their experience at the schools they attended. Reliability is important because you want to be able to finish your courses on time, while making sure that you are equipped with the essential knowledge.

If you are enrolling in school because you would like to be an engineer, for example, search for scholarships that offer money just for taking coursework that pertains to civil engineering.

If you have been involved in a competitive athletic sport since high school, or would like to try your luck at a collegiate level, try searching for college scholarships offered to a specific sport. Almost all schools offer scholarship money - and even 'full rides' - to student athletes who can contribute to the overall reputation of the university simply by attending.

There are scholarships offered for the simplest of things; for example, did you know by reading a classic book of literature and writing an analytical essay on your thoughts afterwards you may get your semester's tuition paid for? By doing a more general scholarship search, you may stumble across random scholarships like these that are easy to apply for. All you are required to do is read a book and write a short essay, nothing you haven't done before. These essays could be the only ones you ever get paid to complete!

Many large companies like to have their products promoted on college campuses due to the sheer size of a target demographic all centered in one place. If you wear certain t-shirts, pass out merchandise, or even place a promotional sticker on your car you can be paid for your services.

Many nationwide groups such as the NAACP and other small ethnic equality groups like to see ethnically-diverse students attend college. You can earn scholarship money simply by being yourself! By filling out some paperwork to confirm your heritage, you could receive money for college.

Starting your scholarship search may seem like a daunting task. There are so many different scholarship programs out there, but not much help in the way of sorting through them all. This is where the help of a financial aid advisor comes in handy. If you contact the office in charge of these services at your school, you should be put in touch with someone who can help you in your search.

There are so many scholarship program options available, some even for a free college course, and most do not even get awarded. Most students think there is too much competition, or they are under qualified so they do not apply. Do not let laziness be the reason you do not receive free money for school!

Ways of Fighting the Plagiarism in the Urdu Literature

The Urdu language started from poetry. In the beginning there were no novels in the Urdu language however soon the trend of novels and short story writing picked up in Urdu language. So in fact, the Urdu literature started off at a very good base. Both the poetry and the prose were well received by the masses as it used to stimulate the minds intellectually.

As with any other literature the Urdu literature too continued to evolve. The evolution is a test of the health of any literature and the Urdu literature successfully passed this test. The Urdu language has always been fortunate enough to have extremely good writers and poets on board.

However there is one acute problem which can sap the vitality of the Urdu literature. This problem is the plagiarism in the Urdu literature. Unfortunately the plagiarism in the Urdu literature is much more than the literature of other languages. There are several reasons for this trend. The main reason is the lack of ethical awareness among the masses and publishers desire to make money through the wrong means.

The following are the some ways through which the plagiarism in the Urdu literature can be fought and be eventually eradicated.

  • Passing and implementing strict copyright laws and punishments

If we see the developed nations in this regard, we would immediately notice about their strict copyright laws and policies. It is because the governments of these nations deeply respect their artists, poets and the authors.

Introducing strict punishments for people who plagiarize stuff is the right way to deal with this problem.

  • Cooperation of different countries, especially India and Pakistan

The Urdu speaking communities are all over the world. Most of the literature activities are going on I India, Pakistan, U.K and the Middle East. Sometimes the publishers lift the intellectual property of a person residing in a different country and publish it with a different name. The original author does not know what to do about it. This practice is very common between the people of India and Pakistan. Both countries do not respect each other right in this regard. The need of the time is that these countries should cooperate with each other to fight the plagiarism.

  • Creating awareness among the masses

The people of the subcontinent too are not much aware of the terms, "artists' rights" or the 'intellectual property'. So they do not know how to respect it. Public awareness must be created in the subcontinent, so that people stop buying plagiarized Urdu books. This trend would discourage the publishers who publish plagiarized books.

  • Controlling the price of the original books

Sometimes the extremely high prices of the books by the original authors push people to look for the copied versions. Many people are aware that it is plagiarism and it is wrong but they say that they cannot afford buying original Urdu books. There must be a price control authority for the books of Urdu literature to keep the prices in check.

Asad have keen interest in Urdu poetry and Urdu literature. Asad have read many books on Urdu literature which forced him to continue studying and exploring Urdu. Feel free to contact Asad at asad_asrar@yahoo.com

Bee Behavior - The Worker Honeybee's Life Cycle

The beekeeper need to have a basic knowledge of the bee behavior. First is the worker honeybee's life cycle, from egg to emergence and from emergence to death. This life cycle can be very short.

The worker honeybees take 21 days to produce an adult worker. In a heavy honey flow, the worker may only live three weeks. A worker begins her life as fertilized egg laid by the queen in the bottom of a wax cell. After three days the egg hatches larva, which is fed by workers, first on a special food called royal jelly and then on a mixture of honey and pollen. If a new queen is needed, only royal jelly is fed and a queen develops instead of a worker. After eight days the workers cap the brood cell. Inside, the larva spins a cocoon around itself and becomes a pupa, which emerges on the 21st day as an adult worker bee. If this larva was chosen to be a queen, the queen will emerge on the 18th day.

Eggs and larvae are recorded on his hive sheet as uncapped brood, while brood in the pupal stage is simply recorded as capped brood. The amount and relative proportions of these two types of brood cells will tell a beekeeper about the health and activity of the queen, and their distribution will tell him whether the workers are keeping up with the queen's need for brood-rearing space.

A worker honeybee is ready to work as soon as she emerges from her brood cell. Her life consists of a series of work assignments:

1. First, she will be assigned housekeeping tasks: cleaning out the brood cells, tending the queen, capping brood and so forth.

2. Next task is food storage: she receives nectar and pollen from foraging workers and stores and processes it. She may also be called on the ventilate the hive by fanning her wings at the entrance.

3. Next, she becomes a construction worker, building a new comb by secreting wax from special glands on her abdomen and applying it to build up the comb.

4. Then she goes on guard duty, becoming one of the workers stationed near the hive entrance to prevent robbing by bees from other hives and to protect it from predators.

5. Her final task is foraging, which she will continue until she dies on the job. This consist of flying away from the hive to collect nectar and pollen.

Typically, a beekeeper will not concern himself with the exact bee behavior that he inspects. For more information on bee behavior, visit www.ModernBeekeeping.com

Don't Overlook Any Possibilities When It Comes To Scholarships And Grants

It's well known that computer science is one of the most in-demand professions in the world. It is also well known that it is one of the most expensive educational programs to pursue. That doesn't mean there isn't financial aid to defray those costs. In fact, there is, and many of the source are those students aren't aware of.

This doesn't mean students should ignore more standard options though. Filling out a FASFA form and applying for such grants as the Pell, SEOG and more, is a good way to cut thousands of dollars off tuitions and fees right off the top. Yet these additional revenue streams can actually finish off the process, maybe paying the entire bill with some extras for such essentials as a dorm room, food and more. Here are a few examples of what's out there:

Intel Science Talent Search - The world-renowned microchip manufacturer knows where its bread is buttered. They set up an annual contest where 20 of the most promising students are awarded scholarships ranging from $750 to $100,000, an Intel-powered laptop and a trip to Washington DC. Prospects should be warned, according to Intel, that they field through 1,600 applications every year. At the same time, the payoff could be considerable.

AFCEA General John A. Wickham Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to second-year or higher students majoring in computer science, math, electric, aerospace and several other STEM disciplines. They must also have a 3.0 GPA or better and go to an acknowledged and accredited four-year school program. All students who meet their criteria receive $2,000.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon Student Award for Academic Excellence - This award is actually jointly administered by the college fraternity and one of the largest professional organizations for computer hardware experts in the country, the IEEE Computer Society. A competition, it awards four scholarships of $500 each to its winners, who must also have a 3.0 GPA or better.

Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship - Each year the Xerox Corporation awards anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 to minority students in a number of different computer and printing related categories. Again, the students must have a 3.0 grade point average or better and be attending, or planning to attend, college in a full-time capacity.

Microsoft Scholarships - Microsoft actually has four main scholarships in computer science; General, Minorities, Women, and Students with Disabilities. They are particularly interested in those showing exceptional originality and knowledge of software. If awarded, a student could wind up with a scholarship paying their full tuition for the year.

It should be noted this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the quality and number of scholarships available to computer science majors. This doesn't even begin to address the grant for online school (or traditional) possible opportunities. Search engines will turn up thousands and a good financial aid counselor can help. Whether you are starting with one course online or on-campus, or taking a full load, getting all the aid you can will make it a less stressful road.

Reduce Or Eliminate Educational Loans With Scholarships And Grants

When getting a higher education, many a student has to take out college loans in order to finance the entire process. Then they fret over the next four or more years about how they are going to pay that loan back. Horror stories of graduates being in debt for years to come haunt the news media and rumor mills.

The simple truth is that if a student takes some common sense steps before applying for the loan, they can keep their costs to a minimum. Many of them are moves they don't teach in high school, but really should. That said, here are some very important ones.

Probably the first thing to do while in high school is to go to a bank and set up your own checking and savings accounts. While your parents may have to underwrite these accounts, make sure you are the sole name on the account. From there, use it wisely. Don't ever, ever, EVER bounce a check. Also, try to put away a few dollars every month, if not every week. Those who show responsible financial management before they apply for loans wind up with better interest rates when they get that loan.

A credit/debit card is another way to show financial responsibility. This means you use it a little, but pay it back promptly. Don't finance a winter trip to Cancun unless you can pay it back. If you use the card and pay it off promptly, you develop a credit record; and that will lower the interest rate.

Go to a respectable authority and find out what your chosen profession earns on the average. Now divide that annual wage by 52 weeks. Now figure out your monthly expenses for your own housing, food and daily expenses after you graduate. From there, ask the loan authority what your monthly payments will be after you leave school. If your monthly loan payment exceeds your weekly paycheck or what you have left after paying your basic expenses, it's too high.

Another very important thing many college students never do thoroughly is explore all alternative options of financial aid. There really are virtually thousands of internships, scholarships and grants out there. Not only do students never have to pay these back, they can reduce the cost of an on campus or online college to virtually nothing. And, the interest on nothing is nothing.

Try to finish your degree program as quickly as you can. The less time you spend going to school, the sooner you can get on to a job and really earn. In these tough economic times being a professional student is a very costly option, especially when it's time to start paying back those deferred loans.

Now the last tip is to stay on top of the latest college loan trends. When President Obama passed the Health Care reform act, he also greatly modified how college loans are administered. Not being aware of important information like this can mean thousands of dollars to your future.

Smart students will spend as much time as it takes researching scholarships and grants to see what they qualify for as this will reduce the amount of any loans needed. For students who are trying to work as they go through college, an online degree may be the way to go. Exactly the same as a traditional degree, these programs are becoming the degree path of the future.

Proper Preparation Can Enhance Your Academic Studies Abroad

Many students apply to college with the dream of heading to Rome, Madrid or Berlin to spend a semester immersed in a culture while working on their higher education. These study abroad programs are an invaluable piece of the college experience because students leave the United States of America with one idea of how the world is and return to America with horizons that have been broadened immeasurably.

The process of studying overseas is not one to be taken on a whim - there must be careful preparation to find the best option that will allow the highest possible amount of education while not breaking the bank. Since college students often do not have a steady income, or their income is diverted straight back into their studies, it's incumbent upon students to find resources that will shed a greater light onto the process of studying outside of a student's home country.

If a student is interested in an overseas education the first thing that must be taken care of is having a valid passport. When in another country, the passport is the only form of identification that is recognized as a state driver's license does not have the same governmental backing as the passport. The passport is confirmation of United States citizenship. The passport can be obtained through the State Department. The applications and photos can usually be processed in a neighborhood post office.

A great resource for students to use when thinking about studying abroad is the Internet. Some of the most popular directories of information about study in another country are those that provide comprehensive information. Viewing these web resources and others can help students make informed decisions from the comfort of their dorm rooms or apartments on their leisure time.

After taking time to view the programs advocating overseas learning, students should make sure the program and country they are choosing will best serve their course of study. It's logical for a Spanish major to study in Spain - that student will have a chance to interact with native speakers on a daily basis. If a student is interested in Renaissance architecture and is an engineering major, then maybe Italy with its plethora of architectural magic is the destination. Students should always have their major in mind when choosing a program with out of home country study.

The next consideration, an understated but important one, is to consider the environment that a student will be entering. There are students who head to Argentina for the fall semester and are shocked to find out they are heading to a summer climate! Students should go to a country with an understanding of the culture and how to best assimilate into that society as that can lead to the most rewarding experience.

After reviewing their plans, check the reviews posted about the programs that seem to be the best fit. Sometimes students might be sold on a program only to find out that the accommodations are sparse and that other students who had previously participated found it to be a burden to study overseas, rather than a joy.

Pursuing academic studies abroad can be a very exciting time in a college student's life. Those who will enjoy the experience most will take time to research the programs available and whether or not they qualify for a scholarship for study abroad courses. Choosing a country that complements your major makes the most sense and should ensure success in your endeavors.

Grants For Single Mothers - Single Mothers Can Now Go Back To School With Educational Grants

Educational grants for single mothers are becoming more available now than before, because of the number of single moms returning to school. With the current state of the economy, many single mothers are recognizing the need to further their education in order to increase their chances of finding better jobs in the future.

Due to the increase in those interested to find ways to finance their education, there are now many education grants for single mothers made available through the state and federal government, as well as private institutions, including companies and colleges.

Federal Grants for Single Mothers

The Pell Grant is the most common federal grant that can provide single mothers grant money ranging between $400 to $5,000. The first step in qualifying for a Pell Grant is to fill up a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Since this is a need based program, you would have to prove you are not financially capable to spend for your education. The Pell Grant would also allow you to qualify for other federal grants for single moms.

The Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is another needs-based grant that can provide supplemental financial support between $100 and $4,000. You would also have to submit a FAFSA to prove your financial standing.

State Grants for Single Mothers

You should also find out what kind of financial assistance for single moms are available in your state of residence. The best source for this would be to check out the listing of State Higher Education Agencies on your state website. You would also have to present proof of financial incapacity in order to qualify for these grants.

Some examples of state grants for single moms are the New Mexico Student Incentive Grant Awards, which offer a minimum of $200 and a maximum of $2,500 for every qualified resident of New Mexico. The New York Tuition Assistance Program is another example of a state grant, which offers up to $5000 for eligible residents of New York.

Private Organizations

There are also several private organizations that offer grants for single mothers. Your best source for information on these organizations will be the guidance counselor or the financial aid office of the school you are planning to study at.

The company you are working for may also have programs that provide financial assistance for single moms. You would have to expand your search to include other social organizations like your local Rotary as well as some non-government organizations that focus on programs for single moms.

Finding the right program that offers grants for single mothers is a lot easier now using the Internet. However, choose wisely, as there are also internet scams that would ask for upfront money before you would be given access to information.

Interactive Whiteboard Resources - New Technology Increasing Speed and Reliability

In the olden days people used coal and brick pieces to write. This is the time even before the chalks and boards were invented. Education and schools were still a part of society. Children used to attend the so called schools. Teachers made use of the walls as boards and brick pieces and charcoal as chalks. On the other hand students used their fingers to write in the dust and mud on the floor. Studies used to happen in a very poor environment. There was no specific infrastructure dedicated to studies.

But as days progressed inventions started happening. Blackboards and colourful chalks were invented by the head master of a school in Scotland. Most of the teachers then started using the teaching resource. Not all schools could afford the installation of the new boards. Few schools gathered money from various sources to get it done while others were helped by the government and social institutions. The era of blackboards had begun, and then came in the whiteboards. The whiteboards were invented with purpose of reducing dust and making the classroom a dust free room.

Many teachers and students had allergies to the chalk powder and so began a new research to eliminate this worry. The whiteboards used a marker to be written with and since it was ink there was no dust and hence it eliminated all the allergies happening from chalk dust. Lately the traditional whiteboards have been replaced by interactive whiteboards. The board work in conjunction with the interactive whiteboard resources and connects the classroom to the world with the help on internet. The interactive nature of the board and the resources helps the teachers to analyse the students understanding and in turn identify the area of concern.

If you are looking for a wide range of Free Teacher Resources, please check out the Promethean Planet website. Teaching resources, teaching software and Interactive Whiteboard Resources are available.

The Promethean Planet site also contains a huge range of Free Teaching resources.

Electron-Ness: Why Are All Electrons Identical?

Go to your local store and buy several items of the same product - say a package of three golf balls. Though the golf balls appear identical, closer examination will reveal ever so slight differences. One ball maybe fractionally larger; another ever so slightly less spherical; perhaps the third is ever so slightly lighter. The generality that extends from this is that any two seemingly identical products will have nevertheless slight variations in their properties.

Now buy a packet of three electrons (or their antimatter equivalent, the positron). Each electron, or positron, will be identical in size, mass and electric charge to as many decimal places as you care to measure. All electrons (and positrons) are 100% absolutely identical clones.

Take one electron and one positron and bring them together. They annihilate releasing a fixed amount of energy. Take another electron and another positron and repeat the scenario. The pair will annihilate releasing an identical amount of energy in the process. The amount of energy released in each electron-positron annihilation case is the same, to as many decimal places as you can measure. That's quite unlike taking a match from a box of matches, striking same and releasing its stored chemical energy as heat energy. Another match from the same box wouldn't release, to as many decimal places as you care to measure, the absolutely identical amount of heat energy.

How come identical golf balls aren't but identical electrons (or positrons) are?

Electrons (or positrons), having mass, can be created from energy (just like mass can be converted to energy as in the case of the electron-positron annihilation process). You (human intelligence) can't create identical golf balls, but a seemingly non-intelligent natural process (Mother Nature by any other name) can create or produce copies of a fundamental particle, like an electron (or positron), that are clones of one another down to the nittiest-grittiest detail.

Even with quantum mechanics in force, you'd think energy could create or be converted into an electron with twice the standard electron mass or twice the electric charge, or thrice even. But no. You see one electron you've seen them all - every electron that is, was or will be, anywhere, everywhere, anytime, every time in our Universe. Electrons, like Black Holes, have no hair. That means they have no individual personality. In fact Black Holes can be said to have some fuzz because they can and do differ in terms of size, mass and electric charge. Electrons have the exact same size, mass and electric charge, so absolutely no hair! Relative to Black Holes, electrons (and positrons) are absolutely bald!

Invoking all things quantum is still a bit of a cop-out in that while quantum means things are this or that, one unit or two, one energy level or two energy levels, there's no explanation as to why it's only one or two, not one & a half. It just is, but why remains a mystery.

Why are all electrons (and positrons) identical?

1) Of course THE cop-out answer is that that's just the way God wanted it and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the matter.

Unfortunately, there is no real evidence for the existence of any deity past and/or present that stands up to any detailed scrutiny.

2) One could resort to an explanation via string theory merged with quantum physics. String theory just replaces elementary particles as little billiard balls for elementary little bits of string (albeit not string as we know it). Now maybe, as in all things quantum, these strings can be one unit in length, or two units, or three units, or four units, etc. Any positive whole number multiple of one string length is okay. Now say that a two length unit of string is an electron. A two unit length of anti-string is therefore a positron.

Or, one can suggest that strings vibrate and can only vibrate at specific frequencies as any musician playing a stringed instrument knows. So, a string vibrating at one allowed frequency is an electron; if it vibrates at another allowable frequency maybe that's a proton or a neutron. Again, a vibrating anti-matter string would produce manifestations of the antimatter particles, a positron being dependent upon one of the allowable vibrating frequencies.

Of the two possibilities, it's the vibration rate theory that's preferred. All strings are of the same fundamental length - their rate of vibration can differ, but at precise intervals. What causes strings to vibrate at the rate they do, and how they can change rates of vibration (morph from one kind of particle into others) are questions better left for another time.

Unfortunately, string theory has no credibility in terms of any actual experimental evidence, and, to add insult to injury, it requires the postulation of ten to eleven dimensions in order to fit the pieces together. If string theory gets some experimental runs on the board then, and only then, will it be time to take strings seriously.

3) Well, one other possible explanation is that all electrons are absolutely identical because there is only one electron in actual existence. If you see the same object twice, thrice of a zillion times over, then it's the same object and the fact that it is consistently identical is not a great mystery. But how can the Universe contain only one electron? That seems to be the least obvious statement anyone could ever make - the statement of a total wacko.

Well, one explanation goes something like this. Our one electron has zipped back and forth between the Alpha and Omega points again, and again, and again. Now multiply 'again' by zillions upon zillions upon zillions of times. When you take a cross section at any 'now' point in time between the Alpha and the Omega, there will be zillions upon zillions upon zillions of electrons visible 'now'. Simple, isn't it?

Unfortunately, while there is no violation of physical laws at the micro level in travelling through time (apart from going forward at a rate of one second per second which we do whether we like it or not), no exact causality mechanism has been proposed to explain how and why an elementary particle shifts gear into time reverse (or forward again).

Back to the original question, why are all electrons identical? Or not, as the case may be.

4) Perhaps in other parallel universes, ones that have different physics, all electrons (if they have electrons at all) might not be identical. That possibility is akin to asking about numbers of angels dancing on pinheads. There's just no way of ever knowing since parallel universes are beyond the reach of science as we know it.

But say each member of the particle zoo weren't identical to every other member in kind. Say electrons came in a thousand variations of mass and electric charge; ditto the other elementary particles. You'd have a particle jungle. If that were the case, presumably it would prove to be very difficult to create identical atoms of the elements and identical molecular compounds and ultimately it would prove difficult to build up the structure of our Universe as we know it, including us. An analogy might be that it's far easier to assemble a ten piece jigsaw puzzle and one with a billion pieces. Our particle zoo seems to be a Goldilocks zoo - not too many particles and variations thereof; not to few either (I mean a universe composed of just identical electrons is equally as bad for life as we know it). Of course if that - the Goldilocks particle zoo - weren't so, we wouldn't be here to ponder the issue.

Moving on up the chain, assuming all members of the particle zoo are identical then atoms of any particular element must be identical - if you've seen one gold atom, you've seen them all (though owning them all is quite a different matter). If elements come in different isotopes, then all the specific isotope atoms of that element are identical.

Further moving on up the chain, if identical atoms combine with other different identical atoms, then presumably the resulting molecules will be identical. While that's true, it's only true up to a point, because eventually you can get molecules that while seemingly identical, have handedness. That is, your hands, while identical, aren't identical because one has a left-handed orientation; the other has a right-handed orientation. That's the point things start to fall apart or break down.

That apart, macro objects, like golf balls, are composed of millions of atoms and/or molecules. If a golf ball has one more, or one less molecule than another, well the two aren't identical.

5) Introducing the maths connection: Here, there and everywhere, on a flat surface, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line; triangles have a sum total 180 degrees; 2 + 2 = 4. In each case, it is so to as many decimal places as you care to calculate. Every 7 is identical to every other 7 - no more and no less. That's true whether or not one is dealing with base ten, or in binary (base two).

So what's the connection? All computer generated simulations, in whatever context, for whatever purpose, are ultimately software programs, which in turn are just mathematical constructions. All you see are ultimately expressions of maths, of binary bits, of 0's and 1's, something on or off. So if you simulate some object using binary software programming, and you create another object using the exact same binary software coding, then those two virtual objects are identical. Now, call what you have simulated, 'electrons'. So if all electrons are identical, maybe it's because they are mathematical constructions - the end products of computer software/programming.

In simulations, virtual objects can interact with other virtual objects (more mathematical wizardry). Change happens. Well, that's what we observe in our reality too. The question is, is our reality really real reality, or simulated reality? Are our electrons identical because each is the product of an identical piece of binary software programming? That may not ultimately be the answer, but it's an answer. Electrons are the same since they are all constructed from the same mathematical whole cloth of binary bits - of 0's and 1's.

Discussion: One may argue that there are indeed differences between electrons (and positrons), we just haven't measured to enough decimal places yet. While that might be true, I personally wouldn't want to bet on it.

Conclusion: I started out with the question of why all electrons are identical. The answer is, I don't know and neither, I suspect does anyone else. However, the foundation of physics (itself the foundation for the other sciences) is grounded in maths, and maths, as noted above, has no problem with the concept. All identical equations yield identical results; the 'equals' sign itself demands identicalness. Perhaps maths has more fundamental 'reality' than anyone has given it credit for. That's certainly the case if we should happen to be inhabiting a software generated, simulated Universe

Postscript: The concept of identicalness can bring us into some weird scientific and philosophical territory. Two people examining the same object will not agree to the Nth degree that the object under consideration is the exact same object, an identical object, when compared from each person's perspective. Perception is ultimately a function of brain chemistry and no two people have the exact same brain chemistry due to various factors like genetics, age, physiology, disease, fatigue, and/or intakes of various solid, liquid and gaseous elements and compounds that directly affect brain chemistry. The differences may be really tiny and nitpicky but nevertheless present. To take another case, if three court stenographers all record and transcribe a days worth of testimony, no doubt there will be (ever so) slight differences in the final three versions.

Even the same person experiencing the same object or event a second, third, etc. time - say watching a film again or listening to a CD track again, won't have identical experiences, again due to the internal brain chemistry being slightly different on each occasion. That's apart from the fact that external influences like temperature, humidity, pressure, and general wear and tear (entropy) all affect that object or event and the environment between that object/event and the person experiencing the object/event. Those external factors also change from moment to moment.

People though tend to agree (brain chemistry not withstanding) on what an independent umpire says about an object or event - the independent umpire being an instrument or measuring device. Instruments are of course also subject to external influences, but aren't affected by brain chemistry - they have no brains!

Measurements tend to be numerical, and numbers are pretty straight forward. However, all measurements are subject to some uncertainty or error margins, especially analogue devices like a ruler - is it 1.510 cm or 1.511 cm or 1.509 cm? Or a thermometer - is it reading 31.37 degrees or 31.38 degrees or 31.36 degrees? Or take a standard watch or clock - is it 12:00:00 or 12:00:01 or 11:59:59?

Digital instruments however have readouts that have a finite number of places in which to display the result, so they don't tend to give you a plus or minus uncertainty error bar. A digital instrument will readout that the length IS 1.510 cm; the temperature IS 31.37 degrees; the time IS 12:00:00, and everyone looking at the readout will agree.

In the case of an electron, the independent umpire gives the same numerical results for each electron it measures. Of course there are still error bars, but with each further decimal place reached, identicalness holds and the error bars get less and less.

Are You Eligible to Submit a Federal Pell Grant Application?

It is a shame that many students in the US can't afford to pay off their school fees as a result many students swallow the bitter pill of end their academic careers prematurely. The Pell Grant program (PGP) organized by the US govt. was set up precisely to assist financially hampered students to complete their school education. Each year majority of students in the US send applications to get financial grants from the federal PG scheme but only the most deserving receive favorable responses.

If you are considering sending a federal PG application to get a much needed helping hand to bear your education cost, then the good news is that the procedure for submitting an application is quite simple. However, an important point that needs your attention is that there has been formulated a certain eligibility criterion and only those applicants who meet the given criterion succeed in receiving Pell Grants (PG).

To start off, the first and most basic condition that you have to fulfill to be able to file a successful federal Pell Grant application is to be a legal US citizen. As a matter of fact, only US citizens are eligible to apply for any type of assistance under any federal govt. program.

Another condition that you have to bear in mind is that PGs are only disbursed to students who have to complete their pre-graduation education. Any graduate is by default disqualified to apply for PGs as the program mainly targets financially disabled students who have to complete their pre-graduation education. This also implies that those applicants who seek financial support to obtain their second bachelors degree will not be considered for PGs.

Finally, if you want your federal Pell Grant application to be considered, then you need to be properly matriculated. Candidates who are on their way to a degree can even get up to $5,000 under the PGP. If you fulfill the eligibility conditions and can prove that you 'actually' need financial support, then you stand a very good chance of getting funds under the federal PGP.

What Are My Dreams Telling Me? Warning Signs and Solutions

I never decide anything before consulting the unconscious mind that produces dreams. I'm sure I can completely trust its guidance, and I'll show you why you must trust it too.

Many dreams are quite confusing. What are they telling me? I take some time to understand their messages when they are complex.

However, I know the dream language. Thanks to my studies, discoveries, and cures, I learned the symbolic meaning of all dream images. Therefore, I start translating the meaning of each dream symbol that appears in the dreams I'm analyzing. This translation enlightens me, and I suddenly understand all the hidden messages contained in the dream images.

Only by translating the basic dream symbols of any dream, I can understand what the dream is talking about. Then I relate this information to my life, since I'm the dreamer.

When I analyze my own dreams I don't have to ask people any questions, because I already know everything about my personality and my life. However, when I translate other people's dreams, I need this information in order to provide a perfect dream translation.

Some people hide many things from me because they are ashamed of their mistakes. Other people present me with a very long life biography, but they forget telling me basic facts that belong to their past. This part is really difficult. When the dreamer doesn't cooperate with the dream translator, and leaves out important details, the translation cannot be clear. It is going to be too generic, and not as helpful as it could be.

Most dreams are basically warnings. This is why a perfect dream translation is very important. The unconscious mind is our natural protector. It shows us in dream images and scenes all the dangers that are threatening our peace of mind. This way, we can correct our mistakes and avoid complications.

Other dreams give us solutions for our daily problems. These are my favorites! When I have an important project or a difficult problem to solve, I wait for my dreams with curiosity. Fortunately, the unconscious mind gives me many signs in my daily reality too, so I don't need to sleep and dream in order to be guided. However, my dreams give me more information.

There are also dreams that are so clear, that I can immediately translate their meaning without even writing them down. Everything depends on the dream symbols.

If you want to understand what your dreams are telling you with the same facility I do, you only have to study a little bit of my dynamic method of dream translation. It is based on Carl Jung's discoveries, and on my own discoveries after continuing his research.

You'll avoid what is bad thanks to the warning signs represented by the dream symbols, and easily solve all your problems thanks to the solutions you'll find. This is a big advantage!

You'll prevent diseases and mental illnesses. Your enemies won't be able to hurt you, and you'll have many loyal friends. You'll find your perfect match and have a perfect relationship. You'll avoid accidents and misfortunes and you will always feel protected and safe. You'll also completely develop your intelligence and be able to use your new gift to help many people around you with your extraordinary talents.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Learning Spanish In Colombia and Tips To Stay Safe In Colombia

Today I will talk about learning Spanish in Colombia. I will also give you some tips to stay safe in Colombia. This article comes from an entry that I made in my journal in November of 2005 following my very first visit to Colombia when I visited Cali. Since then I have moved to Medellin, Colombia.

After sending an email to my newsletter subscribers about my trip to Cali, Colombia, I received several emails from readers who wanted to know more.

One reader wrote what is the "trago" (alcoholic drink) of choice in Colombia. Well, in Cali and Barranquilla, It's a drink called Aguardiente. What does it taste like? Imagine a mixture of licorice and liquid fire.

I am not one to use foul language. I am of the mindset that people who use vulgar language are people who lack the intelligence to find more suitable words to express themselves. But when I took that "trago" of Aguardiente, and I asked the Caleños what did they just give me to drink, I must have shouted every obscenity imaginable in both Spanish and English!

About the Coffee in Colombia...

It is the best that I have ever had. It sure beats Dunkin Donuts. (By the way, throughout Medellin, you can found Dunkin Donuts locations and even Dunkin Donut trucks that serve food and coffee, and play music like ice cream trucks in the States).

I am actually not a coffee drinker. Except when I am working late and I need the caffeine to keep me awake. But in Colombia, I found myself drinking coffee every morning.

Gracias a Dios por Juan Valdés y su burro"! Thank God for Juan Valdés and his donkey.

A common question that my readers emailed me to ask was Cali, or Colombia in general, a safe place to learn Spanish. Well, I'll tell you about an incident that happened in front of the bed and breakfast where I stayed in Cali and you can reach your own decision.

The day after I arrived in Cali, I met two men from the U.K. who were staying at the same bed and breakfast where I was staying. They were both in their forties.

That same day, two "ladrones" (robbers) on a "moto" (motorcycle) robbed the two men at gunpoint AND knifepoint. In broad daylight and right in front of the Bed and Breakfast.

The two "ladrones" (robbers) took an expensive name brand gold watch and $500 in American dollars from the two men. Lesson learned...

Don't wear an expensive watch in Cali, Colombia and walk around with $500 cash. But that same advice applies to New York City, Los Angeles, Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and countless other cities across the U.S. or across the globe for that matter.

Who Was Christopher Pinchbeck - Watch and Clock Maker?

In the world of clock and watchmaking there were, in fact, two Christopher Pinchbecks: the father and the son.

Christopher Pinchbeck I was born in 1670, and died in London in 1732. So far very little is known about his early life, although some say he was born in the Lincolnshire village of that name. It was not until he was about 46, however, that the first known evidence of his clocks appeared, in a 1716 advertisement in the 'Daily Courant', published in London. It is interesting to speculate that he may have spent time in continental Europe, where the automata he specialised in were much more prevalent at that time, before returning to London to promote these clocks. He became famous for astronomical and musical clocks of great complexity: he certainly charged astronomical prices, asking 700 guineas for such a piece in the 1716 advertisement!

For some years Christopher lived and worked in St John's Lane, Clerkenwell, and there is now a plaque to his memory at number 33. His eldest children, Christopher (II) and Edward, who succeeded him in business, were probably born here. He moved to Fleet Street in 1721, where he remained until his death, being buried in the same street at St Dunstan's in the West.

In 1717 he advertised an astronomico-musical clock, describing it as "the most Wonderful Piece of Art in Europe". Not only did it play jigs, minuets... and opera tunes on the organ, flute or flagelet, it also emulated an aviary of birds 'to such wonderful Perfection that it's not to be distinguished from Nature itself'. This clock is now in a private collection in America.

Today, Christopher Pinchbeck I is remembered chiefly for his invention of the alloy, resembling gold, that bears his name. However, it was not until after his death in 1732 that the alloy was promoted, by his sons Christopher and Edward.

When Christopher I died, his son Edward continued the business in Fleet Street. His other son Christopher opened another similar, business, a few doors away, moving to nearby Cockspur Street in 1758. An ambitious businessman, he became a friend of George III, as well as Clockmaker by Appointment to His Majesty, and the King commissioned him to make a four-sided astronomical clock. With its case designed by Sir William Chambers, this magnificent clock is now in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace.

Christopher Pinchbeck II referred to himself as a "Toyman and Mechanician". He patented several inventions, including an improved candlestick, a "Nocturnal Remembrancer" and a safety crane, for which he was awarded a gold medal. He became president of the Smeaton Society (then the Society of Engineers) in 1781, was a senior member of the Committee of Mechanics, and an Honorary Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers. A number of his watches and clocks survive.

How to Gain Confidence to Speak in a Foreign Language?

How to gain confidence to speak in a foreign language? Are you looking for some tips on how to do it? If so - keep reading, because you are in the right place. In this article I'm going to help you solve this problem! Here are three tips on how to gain confidence to speak in a foreign language.

1. Talk to yourself first

If it's difficult for you to speak with native speakers, then try to talk to yourself first. It isn't stressful and it's a great way to practice and to find out what is difficult for you. Create different situations in your head, for example buying a bus ticket, and find out if you know what to say.

2. Constantly step outside your comfort zone

It's crucial to your success. Do things that you are scared of. Say hello to strangers, ask for directions and so on. If there are some people in your city who speak your target language, try to meet with them and offer them a language exchange.

3. Just go for it!

Sometimes the best idea is to just go for it. If something is scary (but it isn't life or health threatening), then there's usually nothing to be scared of. Be open to new experiences and if you are scared of something, then ignore that little voice in your head and go for it - for example travel to a place in which your target language is spoken and interact with locals.

That's it - three tips on how to gain confidence to speak in a foreign language. It's all about practice and your self-confidence. Practice on a daily basis and constantly step outside your comfort zone and you'll solve this problem very quickly! Good luck and have fun while speaking in a foreign language!

Stained Glass Art: Tools and Techniques Used by Artisans

Stained glass artists are talented and knowledgeable craftspeople who specialize in bringing all types of designs to life. To produce art that is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, artists employ a number of tools and techniques of the trade. Here is a brief (and simplified) summary of the process stained glass artists use to create the colorful designs seen in churches, government buildings, and private residences.

Creating a Template

Before an artist brings a work to life using small and large pieces of colored glass, he or she first produces a detailed drawing of the complete image. This drawing will need to be the same size as the window opening or other area where the art will be displayed. Pieces of glass will need to be joined with lead to create the final work, so lines to indicate where this leading will go also need to be included in the template. Compared to the final piece, this template is relatively simple in appearance.

Cutting the Glass Pieces Needed

Glass cutting is a technique that must be mastered by all stained glass artists. They may use a variety of tools to cut glass into the sizes and shapes needed for stained glass designs. A carbon steel glass cutter is an excellent choice when accuracy is important, while diamond glass cutters can be used on even extremely hard glass. There is also a specialized tool stained glass artists use when they need to cut glass into perfect circles. It works in much the same way as a compass in a math set. A suction cup is used to mark the middle of the circle and an arm is then rotated to score the glass.

Smoothing the Pieces

To ensure all pieces will fit together neatly and the design will be reproduced exactly as it is depicted in the template, the artist must smooth the edges on all pieces. The artist might polish the edges using a special type of sandpaper or an electric grinder. A brush is then used to remove any particles from the edges.

Inspecting the Cut and Sanded Pieces

This may be thought of as the quality control step of the process. The artist will inspect each and every piece to ensure it is the same size as indicated in the template and the right color.

Joining the Individual Pieces Together to Recreate the Template

This is the point at which the design is truly brought to life. All of the individual pieces are joined using copper foil or lead came to produce the final work of art.

Installing the Art

Finally, the work is installed in a window opening, ceiling area, or other location. The artist is not necessarily involved in this part of the process. Depending on the size and weight of the work, extra supports may need to be added to the opening.

Obviously, creating stained glass art is a complex and labor-intensive process. For the people who love the warm glow and classic beauty of stained glass art, however, the final result is well worth the effort and cost.
