AIEEE Online Examination - A Boon for Engineering Aspirants

The online features are not new to AIEEE, as it has already accomplished many facilities like, online application, online counseling, etc... but his time, it is going much beyond the boundaries, i.e. the entire AIEEE examination would be conducted via online like the Common Admission Test. This is a reforming concept in the engineering cadre and would get into practice from the year 2011 onwards. Of course the new version of AIEEE that is to be conducted via online is breathtaking and it would further enhance the efficiency at which the exam is conducted at present, but at the same time, it might have some negative points too:

  • Since, it is conducted online, a system based examination pattern should be accomplished. Thus, the entire examination pattern would be automated, except for the identity verification procedures and monitoring procedures. Because of this, the usage of man power could be reduced.
  • In the existing AIEEE pattern, once the students complete the examination, the answer sheets would be corrected by the teachers and lecturers from prominent/renowned schools/colleges and the results would be announced after 10 to 15 days of time. During this time period, the students could get panicked, as they cannot decide anything and would have no clue, regarding the results. Such practically difficult situations would be avoided in the new scheme of AIEEE.
  • Nobody knows, whether there would also be percentile results, similar to CAT. The percentile result displays the position of a student in the examination, based on the comparison of the marks scored by other students. Hence, if a student scores 75% in math, then it means the student has done better, when compared to other 75% students, who had in turn attended the examination.
  • Whatever is been fed into the system that would be considered as solution and the answers would be corrected based on that. Since, there is no necessity for correcting any essay type answers, and reasoning type answers, this system would be effective on accomplishing the results, immediately.
  • But the students would not be provided with the chances to revise and go back to the previous sections, if it similar to the exam pattern of CAT. If it not established in the similar pattern of CAT and if the students could revise and edit the section (if any) that they have attended, earlier, then nothing like that, if not then the students would suffer. As in the present existing exam pattern of AIEEE, which is just a paper -pencil format, the student could revise the questions and could also edit the answers.
  • Even if the AIEEE is executed online, the AIEEE pattern for the architecture streams, like B. Arch/B. Planning, consists of engineering drawing, as one of the entrance examination question papers for which they have to implement the same pattern of CAT, GMAT in which the essays would be evaluated manually and the results of the essays would be published one week later than the main entrance examination. If at all, if CBSE is implementing the same pattern to correct the engineering drawing paper for the architecture streams, then it should be evaluated without errors, which in turn gets added to the category of 'extra care'/'addition work'.
